Siváková, Maria

Maria Siváková is a fiction writer and journalist who has worked as a career advisor and liaison officer for the Kladno branch of People in Need and as an assistant to Senator Adéla Šípová.

She made her debut with the short story “Díky, brácho” (“Thanks, Bro”, electronically at Kher website 2021). Her texts have appeared in Lidové noviny, the cultural biweekly A2, the biweekly Tvar, the weekly Respekt or the literary monthly Host. In the anthology of the Romani literary club Paramisara Fameľija nadevše (Family Above All Else, Slovo 21, 2024), she released the story “Marikle” and in Podphandle mašľičkenca / Podvázané mašličkami (Tubes Tied with Ribbons, Slovo 21, 2025), it was “Nemohla bych je v tom nechat” / “I Had to Do Something”. The anthologies Všude samá krása (Nothing but Beauty Everywhere) and Samet blues (Velvet Blues, both Kher, 2021) each contain one of her stories. In 2025, her text “A 24-Hour Ticket” appeared among the contributions of a group of Czech writers to a catalogue entitled The Momentum of a Decision, which was published as part of the Czech Republic's participation in the 24th Triennial of Architecture and Design in Milan, whose central theme was inequality.
