Markéta Cubrová, a graduate of the Spanish branch of the Institute of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague, spent a semester in Chile at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago de Chile. Whilst studying, she worked at the Instituto Cervantes in Prague. She is taking part in the EU’s CELA project, which brings together European literary artists.
She is the translator of one short story in the short-story collection Kruely. Povídky od Pyrenejí k Andám (From the Pyrenees to the Andes, Argo 2025), as well as selected chapters from the anthology Proměny anarchismu 1793-1939 (Transformations of Anarchism 1793–1939, Academia, forthcoming) and the comic book A dost! Příručka feministické sebeobrany (nejen) pro teenagery (Enough! A Handbook of Feminist Self-Defence (not only) for Teenagers, 82 Bøok & Design Shõp, forthcoming). Translations of extracts from six Spanish books produced as part of the CELA programme are available on the project’s website; extracts from one of them, Cihlové bloky by Luis Díaz, are also published on the website of the online literary magazine iLiteratura.cz.
