Andrej Giňa, the doyen of Romani literature, was a prose writer, activist, musician, cultural event organizer, and small business owner. He lived in Rokycany.
He regularly published in Romani periodicals and in the Roma-studies journal Romano džaniben. His books include the bilingual collection of short stories Bijav / The Wedding (Apeiron 1991) and a representative selection of works entitled Paťiv. Ještě víme, co je úcta (Paťiv: We Still Know What Honour Is, Triáda, 2014). The traditional fairy tales “Pal o duj phrala” / “The Two Brothers” and “Pal o Rom, so geľa andre luma” / “The Romani Man Who Went Out into the World” were released in the fairy tale anthology Otcův duch a jiné pohádky (e-book Father's Spirit and Other Fairy Tales, Kher, 2012). The short story “Pal e phuri Jožaňa” / “The Old Jožaňa came out” in the anthology Všude samá krása (Nothing But Beauty Everywhere, Kher, 2021).
