Kropiwnická, Eva

Eva Kropiwnická got her secondary-school degree in social work in Karviná, where she lives and works as a Technical Services coordinator.

She writes in Romani and Czech, primarily poetry, but also fairy tales and prose. In 2016, she successfully participated in the Romano suno competition with the poems “Miro čho” / “My Son” and “Paľikeriben” / “Thank you.” Her short story “Aunt Emera” / “E Emera” was included in the Roma writers’ anthology O mulo! (Look, a Ghost! Stories about the Ghosts of the Dead, Kher, 2019). Her short story “Baro pharo kamiben” / “True Love” and three of her poems were published in the Romani studies journal Romano džaniben 2/2020. On occasion, she does public readings; as part of the Paramisara (Slovo 21) project, she presented her fairy tale “Pal o dilino princos” / “About the Foolish Prince” on ROMEA TV. The short story “Tak slušné lidi už dneska nepotkáte” / “Such Decent People are Nowadays Hard to Find” was included in the anthology Všude samá krása (Nothing but Beauty Everywhere, Kher, 2021). In the anthology Fameľija nadevše (Family Above All Else, Slovo 21, 2024) she published the story “Nataša” and the story Ľubuša came out in Podvázané mašličkami (Tubes Tied With Ribbons, Slovo 21, 2025).
