Dana Hrušková graduated from secondary school of economics in Jičín. She started her work-life as a laboratory assistant in a sugar factory, then as an operations manager in a dairy in Nový Bydžov and then spent several years running her own business. Today she lives in Prague, where she works as a social worker for the Prague 14 municipal authority.
She made her debut with the Kher publishing house under the pseudonym Ema Lásková with romantic short stories (“Láska až za hrob” / “Love Beyond the Grave”; “Láska se dneska špatně hledá” / “Love Is Hard to Find These Days”). In her work, she also taps into the traditional genre of ghost stories featuring the mule – ghosts of the dead. Her story “Čori Ida” / "Unfortunate Ida” was published in the anthology O mulo! Povídky o duchách zemřelých (Look, A Ghost! Stories about the Ghosts of the Dead, Kher, 2019). She also publishes her work on the Kher website and in the magazine Romano voďi / Romani Soul. Most recently, her short story “Jaká je cena za životy mých nenarozených dětí?” / “What Is the Price for the Lives of My Unborn Children?” came out as part of the Podvázané mašličkami (Tubes Tied With Ribbons, Slovo 21, 2025) anthology.
